WAIKATO COAL INDUSTRY.
Sir. Ilichwhite is going from bad to worse. First, the output from the principal Waikato collieries to-day is supposed to be a third less than in 1920. This absurdity having been proved/ he now comes at the statement tlia there were only three mines operating thenIt is very unfortunate for him that the Government issues official returns of the mining industry, otherwise such misstatements woul continue indefinitely. On perusing the Mines Statement for the year 1020 we find thcfiS names amongst the seven mines then opeia • ing: Extended, Rotowaro, Pukeniiro, Waipa and United (now called Glen Afton). In view of my alleged absence of intelligence, and o Mr. Luke being very dull, perhaps he will tc us exactly how these five mines are only thi ce " W. C. DA VIES.
