NEWS AND NOTES. .. SPORTS CLUB'S MEETING. At the annual meeting of the Auckland Sports Motor Cycle Club the following officers were elected for the year: —President, A. E. Myers, vicepresidents, W. Marett, W. Dingle; hon. secretary and treasurer, H. Fletcher; assistant secretary, A. Broughtwood; committee, G. Leonard, D. McLaren, P. Fletcher, W. Tremayne, A. Sutherland, M. Robinson; club captain, P. Fletcher; vice-captain, D. McLaren. During the evening the club cup for consistent attendance at club runs during the past year was awarded to Mr. P. Fletcher, the runners-up being Messrs. A. Broughtwood, D. McLaren and M. Robinson. SOME TRIAL! In a trial held a few weeks ago by the Southland Moto? Club, 35 riders started and three finished. Only twelve completed one circuit of the course. It must have been some trial! ». SIDE-CAR RECORD LOWERED. According to advice received lately a Swedish rider, Magner, riding a 1927 Royal Enfield combination fitted with a twin o.h.v. J.A.P. engine broke the world's side-car speed record for one kilometre, attaining 189 k.p.h. (117 m.p.h.). This is subject to confirmation.
