LIFE SAVING.
AUCKLAND CENTRE
A letter was received by the Auckland centre-of the Royal Life-Saving Society, which met last night, from the Canterbury- centre asking for support in its endeavours to have patrolmen recognised as amateurs, not professionals. The International Federation of Amateur Swimming rules that patrolmen are professionals. Though sympathising with the movement, the Auckland centre could not see its way clear to give its support. The centre declined to aid the New Zealand Amateur Swimming Association in its Empire Games canvassing.
It was decided to make application to the New Zealand Council for permission to hold the next New Zealand life-saving championships in Auckland.
