RED SHADOW AT ASHBTJRTON.
POOR DISPLAY IN STAKES. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) CHRISTCHURCH, this day. . The failure of the two-year-old Red Shadow in "the Sapling Stakes at Ashburton on Saturday was a great disappointment to his admirers. He was 5 well placed for a mile and then faded out. • He "was in a bad way after the race, there being no life about him. His trainer, J. Bryce, has expressed the' opinion that the colt was "got at" before the .race, and that he was the victim of. doping. Bed Shadow was bred by Bryce, and was sold to his present owner at a big price less than two months ago.
