FLUCTUATIONS IN SHARES.

BUSINESS QUIET. COMMERCIALS EASIER. Business on the local Stock Exchange is exceedingly quiet, and from fhe noon call yesterday until the close of the ten o'clock this morning only four sales were recorded. The recent firmness of Taupiri Coal was confirmed with a sale at £1 6/, and there was fair bidding at the morning's call in this section. Shipping shares also were in steady request at current rates. The weakness in Commercial Banks continues, and a sale at £1 2/1 shows a drop of 4d within the past few days. Farmers' Trading shares are firm, with oners to buy at 8/10, and for New Zealand Insurances buyers have raised their limit to £2 5/6. Mt. Lyells continue to ease, with buyers back to*£l 7/3. Australian Glass, too, on rumours of a reduced'rate of dividend, are easier, with sellers at £2 2/6. Goldsbrough, Morts, on the other hand, are a shade better, with buyers at £1 11/3. The Noon call. The drop in Commercials seems to have spread to other lines in the banking section, and at the noon call English and Scottish eased to buyers at £6 .3/, while £39 7/6 was the best bid for New South .Wales. Staples' Brewery were on offer at £2 8/, also with no buyers. Huddart, Parkers improved, with buyers at £1 18/. SALES COMPLETED. Last Sale. AT THE 3.15 P.M.
