CAREERS OF NURSES.
MISS BRAND POEMEELY AT AV ONDALE. ONE NORTH AUCKLAND LADY. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) WELLINGTON, this day. One of the nurse victims, Miss Bensell, belonged to Maungaturoto, North Auckland, "where her parents reside. Miss Palmer and Miss Bensell left Porirua for Templeton a fortnight ago. Miss Palmers parents live in Ellis Road, Taihape, Miss Cameron came to- Templeton from Seacliffe. All three of the young nurses were very popular. Miss Brand, who was matron at the Templeton Home for retardate children, came from Scotland, and was a nurse "of considerable experience. She had an extensive general training and a special training in mental work in England. When she arrived in New Zealand she joined the staff of the Nelson Hospital and was charge sister there when she wa3 appointed matron at Avondale in 1926. After two years she was transferred as matron to Porirua, where she remained until she went south last year to take charge of the Templeton institution. She had no relatives in New Zealand.
