ANOTHER DENTAL CLINIC.

BUILDING AT DEVONPORT,

TO SERVE THREE SCHOOLS

A new dental clinic was opened at Dcvonport on Saturday afternoon by the Minister of Health, the Hon. A. J. Stallworthy. It is on a. site "on Mount Victoria, and will serve the three schools, Dcvonport, Vauxhal] and Stanley Bay.

The building was erected by the Education Department, the Health Department, and the residents of the district, and is fitted with evcry-conveiiience. It will be in charge of Nurse Ellis, and it is hoped that another nurse will be appointed next year.

Stating at the opening ceremony that a clinic was a distinct advantage to any district, the Hon. A. J. Stallworthy said that it was the last thing that any retrenching policy should touch. The Government was faced with the need for the greatest economy, but he hoped that some at least of the work in that one direction would be continued.

Mr. C. M. Browne, chairman of the organising committee, said that the residents should be grateful to the Dcvonport Domain Board for granting the site, and to the Boroue;h Council for the ready financial help given.

"The policy of the Government iii connection with dental clinics is sound." declared the deputy-Mayor, Mr. J. Hislop, "and their importance to schools cannot be over-emphasised." lie said he was glad to welcome Nurse Ellis. She had been formerly 'at Paeroa, where, in carrying out 8049 operations, she had saved the parents over £4000.
