Although there was not the bitter tang in the air that was the distinguishing feature at the first two days of the Ellerslie meeting, to-day was decidedly a day for coats,, with perhaps an umbrella swinging nonchalantly from the wrist. Tweed ensembles were again' very much in evidence, accompanied as usual by smart little close-fitting felt hats in tones to match. Tweed overcoats, fur trimmed, took the place of fur coats, and many smart tailored suits were to be seen. A great number of models displayed the fashionable sombre tones of greens, reds and browns.
