EVANGELISTIC CONFERENCE.
At the forty-eighth annual conference of the New Zealand Evangelistic and Publication Association, held in the Church of Christ, West Street, yesterday, the president, Mr. D. Donaldson, in the course of his address, said that there was great room for work within the Christian Church to ensure a return to the literal teaching of the Word of God in matters of faith and practice. They should lift their voice against all forms of modernism. The executive, in its report, entered a protest against railway excursions on Sunday. The total membership of the churches was stated to be 710. a net increase of 1G since last year. The total membership in Auckland is 515, Hamilton being next with 96 members. Mr. Charles Garratt, treasurer, reported that the excess of assets over liabilities amounted to £12,450. It was also reported that Mr. C. A. Green's comment on work among the Maoris had resulted in inquiries being made re the translation of tracts into the native language.
