POVERTY BAY FARMING NOTES
A remarkably fine autumn and early winter has been experienced to date, and this has assured the ripening of many of. the maize crops, which, owing to unfavourable weather at planting time, made a late start. The dairying season, now concluding, has been an excellent one for production and dairy farmers generally admit that the low prices ruling lately for butter-have been offset by the larger returns due to the wonderful season. The Kia Ora Co-operative Dairy Company has already broken last year's record of 1075 tons and hopes to conclude the season with an output of 1150 tons.
A considerable amount of dehorning is being done for farmers at-the Matawherd saleyards. Many dairy herds have undergone the operation, and the owners, without exception, have been pleased with-the results and they all state that the loss of milk resulting is quite neglifliblA.
