WOOLLY BOOTEES.

Here is the simplest; possible way of making them: With rather thick doubleknitting wool, cast on 45 stitches, and knit perfectly straight for about five inches. Cast off, fold knitting in half widthways, and seam up the sides to make a little bag about five inches deep. Run an elastic round, about half-way up the bag, then put baby's foot inside jvnd draw up the elastic to fit her ankle. Although there's no shape in the shoe, the knitting will stretch to the size of her foot; there will be a cosy fit round the ankle, and a nice warm sock portion above it.
