GRADE SOCCER.

SATURDAY'S GAMES.

MATCHES IN RETROSPECT.

t, , ' SOME CLEVER JUNIORS.

The-results of Saturdays games in the senior B grade did not effect the teams at the top of the competition, where Philomel, North Shore and New Lynn-Bon Accord still lead in that order, one point between each. Newmarket and Northcote suffered heavy defeats on Saturday, though both have been unfortunate with players this season. - Northcote are endeavouring to enlist new recruits. The club is in very good heart, in spite of defeats, however, and ere the second round hope to be in good going order. A strenuous game resulted between Rangers and Belmont in this grade, the latter gaining the points by the narrow margin of a penalty goal. The game was fast" and strenuously contested througiout, Hall, Stevens, Riddolls, Birkenhead and Smith being prominent loi Rangers, with Gamble, Wiggle, Poole and Anderson most in the picture for Belmont. ~, The' Senior B match between MetroCollege and Newmarket resulted in a clear°cut win for the former by seven goals to one. The winners held the advantage throughout the game, the forwards getting in some nice combined play which generally ended in a scoie. Newmarket gave a very poor display, team work and positional . play being entirelv absent. Individual efforts wei e the order of the day, but these tactics did not take them far, the opposing defence being on top most of the time, lhe backs put up a good defence in the first spell but faded out in the concluding stages. A final rally just before time saw Newmarket score their only goa , and a very uninteresting game ended as The senior B table tp May 31, 1930, is as follows: —
