HIGH AND DRY.

SCHOONER PILED UP. AS.HORE AT STANLEY POINT. VISION" DRAGS HER ANCHORS. BUFFETED BY HEAVY SEAS. In a storm of wind, hail and rain about 10.30 tins morning, the schooner Vision went ashore under the lee of StanleyPoint. The extent of the damage has not been ascertained yet. She was held by two anchors about 200 yards out from the shore, just inside the dine of beacons which mark the approach to the Bayswater ferry wharf. Evidently the two lines were insufficient to hold her,' for when a heavy squall came down, she began to drag, and was finally stopped by the series of reefs which surround the point. When the Vision touched she swung broadside and was swept from end to end by the breaking seas. Nothing could be done in the way of salvage owing to the shallow water, and as the tide receded the vessel was left practically high and dry. The Vision was built by Mr. James Reicl, of JSTorthcote, for his own use, and he cruised to the Islands for over two years. On his return the vessel was hauled up for some time, and over a year ago Mr. Reid sold her to Mr. P.. Woodsfde, of Grey Lynn. He has used her for short cruises along the Gulf. The Vision is a vessel of about 12 tons, her, measurements being 45 feet overall, lift 6in beam, 36ft waterline and sft 3in draught.

The permanent moorings of the Vision were at Little Shoal Bay, but for some time her anchorage has been at different places in the harbour.
