The congress of the Empire Chambers of Commerce, by a large majority, passed a ..resolution, that the time had arrived for the reintroduction of penny postage throughout the Empire. Mr. William Machin, of New Zealand, moved that the federation's council should do its utmost to foster the film industry, thus promoting Imperial interests. This was carried unanimously. "If the parts of the British Commonwealth did not go forward together in a united trade policy which benefits them mutually, the individual units would be forced to co-operate commercially with other countries," said the Australian Minister of Trade and Customs, Mr. J. Fenton, on Monday, when addressing the Canadian Club and making an appeal for better trade relations between Canada and Australia, with particular reference to the fact that Australia has a shortened trade balance. Mr. Fenton promised that he would endeavour to persuade the Prime Minister, Mr. J. H. Scullin, to visit Canada on the way Home from the Imperial Conference at London this autumn.
