SENIOR B GAMES.

A missed penalty cost two points in the frame between Newmarket and Technical Old Bovs, which resulted in a draw, two goals each,,after a very evenly contested same. There was little between the teams, but Newmarket must be credited with superiority in combination which, however, was nullified by the solid defence of the Technical Old Boys. The scoring was all registered .in the opening spell and the.second session resolved into a desperate struggle for mastery, the deciding factor being brilliant saving of a penalty bv Farrow- from Ritchie, of Newmarket. Throughout Newmarket showed the better balance and more methodical play, but the bustling tactics of their opponents prevented much of the combined effort bearing fruit. For Newmarket, Cotton, Ritchie, Curtis and Lyrtd were most prominent, while the Old Boys were well served by O'Lcary, Marlow, Burford and Farrow.

The match between Tamaki. and MetroCollege ended in a win for Tamaki by four goals to one after a very ragged display for three parts of the game. A very even first spell saw the scores level, and although both sides had many chances in front of goal during this spell, the weakness of both forward lines in finishing was the cause of neither side scoring. The second spell saw some very poor football, for some time, until Tamaki brightened up considerably and began to show some combination and team work. The forwards displayed nice combination and, being well backed up by the backs, a complete change came over the game in the concluding stages. The Metro-College defence did not stand up too well under the pressure and Tamaki netted three goals in quick time. The Tamaki forwards put more dash into their work in the last quarter of an hour than at any previous stage, and a sorely harassed defence was hard pressed to keep them out. It was a remarkable finish to the tame football that was served up in the early stages of the game.
