AUCKLAND REPS.
CORRESPONDENT'S - SUGGESTION. "Old Rep" writes:. "I have noticed a few teams published in the papers lately- picked by football critics, so I am forwarding a team which I think would be a good one to represent • Auckland in their first match against Hamilton at least. Here it is: Butler, Minns, Lucas, Couper, Berridge, Jamieson, Corner, Solomon, Palmer, Hadley, Greville, Kahu, Batty, Gallagher, L. Knight. Reserves: Jones, Turei, Hook, A. Knight, Holt and ijlodge. "Butler is playing better football than Bush, but on form Turei, the Manukau Maori full-back, is making Butler also play hard for his position. The threequarter line is a fast one, and I am convinced that Couper, given a chance, will make goobl. He has everything that goes to make a champion but experience. -:q Although Jones looks good, I think<he--is" i a I> 4ittle raw to play in the rep. team as yet, Let him. train with the reps, and he will soon get the raw spots' knocked off him. . Many people will disagree with me in playing Berridge, but I have watched him closely this year and am convinced that, given a chance between Jamieson and Lucas, he will prove : just the five-eighths . Auckland is looking for. Give him a trial anyway. The forwards are a big, strong lot, and again many people will disagree with me for not playing A. Knight. I am of the opinion that he is a very poor forward, and not half good enough for All Black trials. I am including Gallagher, a young, keen forward with great possibilities who will push and not loaf around the scrum. He is young and will be an asset to Auckland in .the seasons to come, so Avhy hot give him an opportunity ? In the emergencies, Hodge, the Training College hooker, and Holt, the City rover, are men who could be given a trial also. They look very good to me.".
