Hearty congratulations on attaining her pilot's flying certificate were given last evening to Miss Ina Wright, of Devonport, by the National Council of Wpmen. Miss Wright is the first Auckland woman to gain this distinction. ,■* * * * Arrangements for a function to- be held on Thursday evening in the Palais Theatre, Northcote, in aid of the Plunkei work in the district, were finalised last evening at a meeting of the Northcote branch of the society. The Mayoress, Mrs. A. E. Greenslade, presided. * * * * At the meeting of the National Council held last night several speakers' expressed their pleasure at Miss Amy Johnson's wonderful achievement in flying from England to Australia, saying she had done a big thing for British aviation, and was another pioneer in the great field of things that were -being done by women. It was decided to forward \ a suggestion to the Dominion president, Mrs. Fraer, that the National Council cable its congratulations to Miss Johnson on her wonderful feat. The meeting also passed the resolution that a cable be sent, through the Mayoress, from the women of Auckland, congratulating Miss Johnson.
