HIDE AND SKIN SALES.

MARKET STEADY. Prices were steady at the hide and skin auctions in the Chamber of Commerce this aftrenoon. Sheepskins maintained the advance recorded at last sales, and in some instances slight advances took place. Hides were not offered so freely, and prices were on a parity with those ruling a fortnight ago. Tallow is easier in price this week. Following are to-day's quotations:— Sheepskins.—Dry: Half to three-quarter wool, 7d to 7%' d .per lb; short to half wool, sV>d to 6%c1; quarter wool, 5d to sYid; lambs. 6%d to 7%d; pelts. 3%d to o 1 Salted: Best, 4/ to 4/9 each; medium. 3 6 to 3/9; poor and damaged, 1/6 to 2/6.

Hides.—Heavy ox. per lb; medium and light, od to 5%d; heavy cow, 5%d; medium, 5%d; light, 5%d; yearlings, 6d; best calf, lid; good, 9d to lOd. Tallow.—Best mixed, 22/6 to 23/6; medium, 20/6 to 21/6; poor, 15/ to IS/6 per- owt.
