CAR WRECKED.

a STRUCK BY TREE. " MISHAP AT DOMAIN KIOSK. SHOCK FOR MOTORIST., To the chagrin and astonishment of an Auckland motorist, Mr. Cruse, who had left his car parked near the Domain Kiosk at noon to-day, a poplar tree toppled over in a gust of wind, crashed on the empty car, and damaged it considerably. The tree fell without any warning. A number of cars had ; been parked in the vicinity during the morning. Mr. Cruse's car was parked just outside the door of the kiosk, and to get that precise spot—the most popular one with visitors to the kiosk —he had to race another car. The other car, parked a few feet behind, was not damaged when the tree fell. The near side of Mr. Cruee's car was wrecked, and,the outer covering of the rear of the car was split to such an extent that the upholstery showed through the cracks. The hood was torn and lay in a tangled mass over •the twisted windscreen. The poplar tree had a trunk about 50 feet in length, and grew in the flower o-arden near the kiosk. It was torn up by the roots. The force of the smash" caused the trunk to break in halves. Mr. Cruse and companions had left (he car about five minutes when the crash came.
