CAR'S NOSE DIVE.
« OVER A THIRTY-FOOT BANK. RESTS UPON HOOD IN WATER. PASSENGER'S LUCKY ESCAPE. ,(Bj- Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) WHANGAREI, this day. A sensational nose dive over a 30foot bank was taken by a car on the Kaimamakau,Road, last night.- The ear is owned by Mr. Les. Waldon, a contractor, and was being driven by one of bis men, who shared the front seat with Mrs. C. Penene and her baby: Rounding a bend, the driver took a wide sweep to* avoid another car, and the wheels left the road, causing the car to topple nose first over a sheer bank and.rest upon its hood in three feet of water. Providentially, as it fell, one of the doors swung open, and so the badly-shaken inmates were able to crawl through the aperture, otherwise they might have been drowned. This morning the car still lay capsized in the creek, with one wheel torn oft' and considerably damaged in other ways..
