WEDDINGS OF THE DAY.

JOHNSTON—HUGHES.

. A pretty wedding was solemnised at St. Paul's Church, Symonds Street, on Wednesday, when Emma, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs". J. Hughes, of "Culrathaine,"' Ranfurly Terrace, Mount Eoskill, became the wife of Oswald Eric, younger son of Mr. and Mrs. A. J. W. Johnston, of Te The Rev. C. A. B. Watson officiated. The bride, who entered the church on the arm of her father, wore a long-sleeved period frock of ivory moire. Her embroidered tulle veil was held in place with a Juliet cap finished with a spray of orange blossom, and she carried a sheaf of lilies. The two bridesmaids, Misses Mabel and Myrtle Hughes, sisters of the bride, wore frocks of rose opaline georgette, with uneven hems reaching to the ankles at the back. Their silver grey felt hats were swathed with velvet ribbon to tone, and they carried bouquets of pink flowers. The bridegroom was attended by Mr. Leslie Johnston as best man, and Mr. Russell Butler was groomsman. The reception was held at the residence of the bride's parents, when Mrs. Hughes received; wearing a frock of navy and fawn georgette, with navy silk hat and coat to match. Mrs. Johnston wore a black silk frock and hat, with a mole silk coat.

BALL—LORNE. The wedding was. celebrated at Holy Trinity Church, Dargaville, of Marjorie Frances Grace, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. R. A. Lome, of Dargaville, to Henry James, eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. A. L. Ball, of Mititai. The Rev. J. C. Fussell was the officiating minister. The bride was escorted up the aisle by her father and wore white celane.*e satin draped with an overskirt of tulle and lace. The tulle veil was clasped, with a cluster of orange blossoms, and she carried a shower bouquet of white chrysanthemums. Her attendants were Misses Lorna'and Claudia Lome (twin sisters of the bride). The chief bridesmaid, Miss Lorna Lome, was gowned in apple green georgette, ankle- length, and a green tulle Lido hat to match. Miss Claudia Lome acted as second bridesmaid, wearing a lemon lace ankle length, with lemon tulle and a Lido hat to match. Both bridesmaids carried bouquets of lemon and pink chrysanthemums. Miss Moira Worsley, cousin of the bride, made a pretty flower girl in a dainty frock of pink georgette, her headdress being of pink tulle, and she carried a basket of pink and blue flowers. Mr. Edgar' Mahon acted as best man and Mr. Maurice Ball was groomsman. After the eerer ■mony Mr. and. Mrs. Lome entertained *the relatives of*the bridal couple at the Holbom tea rooms.

WALKER—VANSTONE. ■, The wedding took place at Opotiki on Tuesday of Miss Bosina Vanstone, youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. R. Vanstone, of Opotiki, to Mr. Ronald Herchel Walker, eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. A.' J. Walker, of Auckland. The ceremony was held in St. John's Church, the Rev. David Hird, M.A., being the officiating minister. The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a frock of ivory satin beaute, made with a tightfitting bodice, embroidered with beads. The full-flared skirt had an uncven\heni : line, which drooped towards the side,and back. Her embroidered veil was held in place by sprays of orange blossom, and she carried a bouquet of pink hothouse flowers and maidenhair fern. In attendance on the bride was Miss Beach Hardie Neil, of Auckland, who wore an ankle length frock of apple green georgette and lace. Around the flared skirt were circles of pink flowers. She wore a green felt hat to tone and carried a bouquet of shaded pink flowers. The bridegroom was attended by Mr. Ronald Meggitt, of South Africa, as best man. Following the ceremony the reception was held at the home of the bride's . parents, >tho roams being decorated with autumn flowers. Mrs. Vanstone, the mother of the bride, received her guests, wearing a frock of navy crepe de chine, a navy flared coat and black hat. She carried a posy of mauve,flowers.-Mrs. Walker, the bridegroom's mother, was in navy crepe de chine, with beige georgette, and a hat to tone. ' Her bouquet was of autumn, shaded flowers.
