The third of the series, of games in the first round of the Matamata Union's championships was played on Saturday. A' feature of the senior play was the easy defeat of Walton by. Matamata, for whom W. 11. Carlson, the former King Country and Wanganui rep., played a particularly heady game, scoring two tries. Mehrtens, a former Canterbury and Bay of Plenty rep., also played for Matamata as rover. The Maori team, Wardville (formerly Raungaiti) put np a great game against Arapuni, only going down by a penalty goal scored by Arapuni (Rauhina) in the last few minutes. Results were :— •.
