ELLIOTT IN GREAT FORM.
The Auckland Amateur Athletic and Cycle Club on Saturday conducted its initial meeting of winter series. The programme consisted of a sprint, a steeplechase, and two field events. The weather conditions were ideal for racing, while the ground was in a perfect state. Results: — 75 YARDS SPRINT. First Heat. —A. J. Elliott 1, H. Roper 2, R Wilte? 3. Time 7 3-ss. Won by two yards Elliott shot out of the holes, and running in-championship form never left the result in question. .„ nnA -, T Second Heat.—R. G. Kirkwood 1, _J. Turnbull 2, H. McNeill 3. Time, 7 4-os. WO Final-A ya j d -Elliott 1, H. Roper 2, R. G. Kirkwood 3. Time, 7 3-ss. Won by a y "t was a" fSSone conclusion that Elliott would win, and he did not disappoint his followers in that respect. ONE MILE STEEPLECHASE. A. B. Browne 1 J. Hall o F. Adams ° Time, 5m 28s. Fastest .time of 4m 55s made by A. B. Browne. Twelve started, although others who had no training ran to break in the season.
