WOMEN TEACHERS.
WELLINGTON CONFERENCE.
INDIVIDUAL TABLES AND CHAIRS. FACILITIES FOR PUPILS. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) . WELLINGTON, this day. The annual conference of the New Zealand Women Teachers' Association was opened on Saturday evening. It" was resolved "That technical facilities should be so increased as to allow all boys and girls,' upon reaching the age of twelve, to be sent to cookery and woodwork classes irrespective of the classes reached by them." A remit from Auckland was passed "That the time has arrived when all schools should be supplied with individual tables and chairs, the size of such in all rooms being graduated to suit the stature of pupils."
Another Auckland proposal which was carried, is for a small levy to supply means for financing delegates to conferences abroad, the underlying principle being the helpfulness generally of information gained from such tour 3. The conference also resolved "That the Department beMirged to act more frequently on the regulation which allows leave with salary to teachers wishing to go abroad to study or to attend educational conferences."
