COWARDLY ASSAULT.
TWO MEN SENTENCED.
RINGLEADER GETS THREE YEARS,
"Both prisoners were concerned in a cowardly and brutal assault .on a inah who. had befriended them," said Mr. JusSmith, in the Supreme Court this morning in sentencing Robert Morton to three years' hard labour for robbery with violence, and James Daley to 18 months' imprisonment with hard labour for assault with intent to rob. His Honor said that. Morton seemed to be the ringleader and to have got away with most or the money. It was stated by Mr. Noble on Daley's behalf that the assault by accused amounted to nothing more than holding the complainant's hands. Drink was his failing.
