TWO-WAY TRAFFIC.
NGARUAWAHIA BRIDGE. BAILWAY BRIDGE FOR ROAD VEHICLES. HIGHWAYS BOARD DECISION. (From Our Own Correspondent.) WEMJNGTON, this day. Motorists who use the main road through Ngaruawahia will in due course be able to avoid the delays consequent on the present road bridge being suitable only for one-way traffic. The Railway Department is building a new bridge for its requirements, and the Main Higsways Board has taken advantage of the opportunity to arrange to take over the old railway bridge when it becomes available. The old railway bridge will have to be decked for road traffic, and this work will be undertaken out of Main Highways funds. In view of the capital cost involved, the Highways Board has secured a lease of the bridge from the Railway Department of sufficient duration to" justify the cost of decking. The bridge will then be used for traffic in one direction, and the old road bridge will take the opposite traffic, thus doing away with present delavs at that busy point. There is a possibility that the Railway Department in the somewhat remote future will require the cylinders of its oil bridge for a widening of the new railway structure, in which case it will resume possession, and another bridge will be required for road traffic*
