WAIHI PROSPECTING.

(From Our Own Correspondent.) WAIHI, Wednesday. At a meeting of the committee of the Waihi District Prospecting Syndicate the acting-secretary, Mr. W. M. Wallnutt. reported that an area of 500 acres had been pepped out as a prospecting area in tlie Owharoa-Waitekanri district, following the decision of the general meeting of proposed subscribers to the company, and Coat the applications for prospecting licenses would come before the next sitting of che Warden's Court at Paeroa. It was reso-lved to ass Mr. Jas Murray to act in the matter of securing subscribers towards the preliminary expenses so that the proposed scheme of testing t ne ground (dacite country carrying free gold) by means of boring could be proceeded with, preliminary to the formation of the proposed company. Kegarding the programme of work, it was reported that since the meeting of subscribers on Apul 10 farther visits had been made to Mr. Bedford's property at Waikino, which lies to the south of the prospecting area pegged out by the Prospecting Syndicate. Mr. Bedford is carrying out boring operations on his property. The matter of the exact nroeramme of work on the syndicate s prospecting area was receiving careful consideration from the technical advisers of the provisional directors. Tie latter proposed that before any expenditure m boring was undertaken all outcrops, old dumps and tunnels still open should be carefully examined, so that the most favourable areas for investigation could be decided on.
