CAMBRIDGE TROTS

GANG AWA'S CUP. Inverness Scores in Saddle— Leamington Handicap To Finoro. „ The last of the country trotting meetings is taking place tliis afternoon, tliere being a good attendance from Auckland and the Waikato for the Cambridge Trotting Club's annual gathering. The track is in tip-top order. An Outsideer Wins. White Raven was the only defection from the Introductory Handicap, with which the programme opened. Prince Pedro ( £432) was favourite, with Dillon Audubon ( £214) next in request, while Lady Yvonne, who eventually proved the winner, carried only £07. At the start Lady Linda ran across the field, but when they settled down Prince Pedro was in charge from Don Wildman, Belle Wilson, Our Jessie and Cogent. _ Passing the stands, the order was Prince Pedro, Don Wildman, Moko Swift, Belle Wilson and Cogent. Lady Yvonne moved up fast along the back and joined Prince Pedro, with Moko Swift, .Cogent, Our Jessie, and Dillon Audubon next. Prince Pedro and Lady Yvonne were first into the straight, the pair being about eight lengths in front of Our Thorpe, with Myrtlene and Great Vanity next. Lady Yvonne stayed on best, to beat the favourite by half' a length, with Oliver Thorpe four lengths away. Then came Belle Wilson, Myrtlene, Lord Lu, Lady Linda and Moko Swift.' The winner paid a nice double-figure dividend. A Favourite Scores. All paraded for the Leamington Handicap, for which Finoro (£487), Nelson Girl (£274) and All Special ( £182) were best backed, while Black Magic carried only £103. Windcliat led past the stands from Kopu Boy, Nelson Girl (who was breaking badly), Zanzibar, Finoro and Roto. Going out of the straight Windcliat still held her position from Zanzibar, Nelson Girl, who was still breaking, and Finoro. Along the back Black Magic moved up, where Windchat was just in front of Zanzibar, Finoro and Black Magic. Windchat broke crossing the top, leaving Zanzibar just in front of Finoro and Black Magic, the others having no chance. Black Magic broke at the home turn and lost several lengths, and Finoro soon headed Zanzibar, going on to win by a length from Black Magic, who finished very fast and beat Windchat by two lengths. Then came Zanzibar, Nebraska, Te Ngutu and Colonel Thorpe. The Saddle Event. Andover, Nathaniel and Realty were withdrawn from the President's Handicap, a mile saddle event. The public went for Gaza, entrusting him with £740, while the bracket, Cornelian and Brutus (£320), and High Sea (£274), were next favoured, Inverness having only £193 invested on his chance. Gaza was first to show out from Childe Audubon, Inverness, Dad's Hope and Zealous, but Inverness broke after going a couple of furlongs and lost his place. Along the back Gaza was out by himself with Dad's Hope, Childe Audubon, Silver Link, Zealous and High Sea next, but the last mentioned five were all well bunched. Gaza was first to turn for home from Dad'.s Hope, High Sea, Zealous, Inverness and Trustworthy, but Gaza then stopped quickly and Inverness finished best to g:t the verdict by three-quarters of a length from High Sea, who beat Gaza by a length. Then followed Zealous, Dad's Hope, and Cornelian. The Big Event. When the field paraded for the Cambridge Trotting Cup only Hostess and Brutus were missing. Te Wahia (£426), Peter Pirate (£379) and Ruchore (£358) were most sought after, while the winner, Gang Awa, carried £189 only. Peter Pirate broke up at the start, and when the field settled down Nella Dillon was in charge from Great Ballin, Richore, Lord Nepean and Dealer. Passing the stands (after they had gone about a mile) Nella Dillon was leading from Gang Awa, Richore, Lord Nepean, Dealer, Great Ballin and Dan Direct. Going out of the straight Gang Awa took charge and led along the back from Nella Dillon, Dealer, Te Wahia, Richore, Reliance, Dan Direct and Warplane. Across the top Gang Awa was attended by Dealer, Te Wahia, Richore, Dan Direct and Nella Dillon, The order was the same into the straight and Gang Awa went on to win bv half a length from Richore, who beat Dealer by three lengths.
