HEAVY FIRING.
PARNELL BY-ELECTION. PARTY REINFOR-CEMENTS. FIVE DAYS BEFORE POLL. All guns in the fight for the Parnell seat are now firing their heaviest ammunition. With iut five days to go before the poll, the candidates have meetings fixed for every night until Wednesday, excepting, of course, Sunday. In support of the United party candidate, Mr. W. A. Donald, three Ministers, the Hon. W. A. Veitch, the Hon. G. W. Forbes, and the Hon. E. A. Ransom, are Mkely to take further part in the campaign, although all have already spoken. Mr. Forbes and Mr. Veitch will be out of town over the week-end, but both are expected to return on Monday. To enter the battle in the cause of the Reform candidate, Mr. W. P. Endean, the Hon. W. Dovvnie Stewart, ex-Minister of Finance, arrived from the South this morning, while the Rt. Hon. J. G. Coates is to enter the fray on Monday evening. As helpers in his effort to win the seat for the Labour party, Mr. T. Bloodworth has the party leader, Mr. H. Holland, as well as Messrs. P. Fraser and W. Nash, M.P's. Polling next Wednesday will be carried out at 25 booths, with the headquarters at St. Mark's Hall, Remuera. The hours will be from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., and the count of the votes will be made at the Law Court Buildings.. High Street. It is expected that the result will be made known between 5.30 and 9 o'clock. Meetings are advertised as follow: — Mr. Donald.—To-night, Somervell Hall, Remuera; to-morrow, Meadowbank School; Monday, Municipal Hall, Newmarket, and St. Heliers Bay Theatre; Tuesdav, Tudor Theatre, Remuera. Mr. "Endean.—To-night, St. Mark's Hall, Remuera; to-morrow, St. Aidan's Hall, Remuera; Monday, Tudor Theatre, Remuera; Tuesday, Remuera Library. The Hon. W. Downie Stewart will speak at Mr. Endean's meeting to-night, and the Rt. Hon. J. G. Coates will address the electors at the Tudor Theatre on Monday evening. Mr. Blood worth. —To-night, Municipal Hall, Newmarket; to-morrow, Remuera Library, and St. George's Hall, Ranfurly Road; Monday, Green Lane Theatre, and Purewa camp; Tuesday, St. Heliers Theatre, and St. Mark's Hall. The Labour leader, Mr. H. E. Holland, will speak at to-night's meeting and Messrs. Fraser and Nash, M.P's. at to-morrow's meetings. ■
