VICTORY'S FAST RUN.

The A class yacht Victory, owned by Mr. Harold George, made a very fast run down the- coast from Russell last Sunday. She passed Cape Brett at 11 a.m., and arrived off Rangitoto Beacon at, 1.30 a.m., doing the distance of 100 nautical miles in 14i hours. The record for this run, so far as Speedwell is aware, stands to the credit of the yacht Little Jim, then owned by Messrs. Feltham Brothers, of Devonport, who made the run before a hard southerly from Awaroa Bay to the Cape in 12| hours. Commenting en the visit of the Auckland yachts to Coromandel, the "Coromandel County News" says: "At the regatta dance on Easter Saturday night the visiting yachtsmen filled St. George's Hall to a crush. The gallant yachtsmen imparted that 'free and easy, bright and breezy' animation which rules out all dull moments, and it was easy to see that 'all the nice girls love a sailor.' Plenty of partners and the general good conduct of the visitors made the dance an outstanding success that will remain a pleasant memory for all who were present We hope to welcome them all again next Easter." Thank you, Coromandel good folk, for your friendly welcome and appreciation of the fact that yachtsmen can behave themselves. Kenya, Mr. Len Hoard's 35-foot cruiser, had a good run out to Fitzroy on Easter eve, leaving Parnell »t 8 p.m. She arrived at 2.30 a.m. Next day the party went out to Arid Island, where shark fishing was tried with fair success. On Saturday Arid Island was left early, and a run down the outside of the 'Barrier was made, bringing up for the night at Tryphena. Sunday was spent fishing and visiting on the lee of the Barrier, Wharigaparapara being their anchorage. On Monday a departure was made at 10.30, the moorings being picked up at 4 p.m. Mr. A. Forster's Raira was met at the Barrier.
