WINTER SLOW IN COMING.
CONDITIONS IN WAIKATO. FEED STILL PLENTIFUL. The Waifcato looks very well for this time of the year (writes a travelling correspondent to the "Star"). Feed ia fairly plentiful and stock are in good condition. A lot of hay has been saved, in spite of the wet season, and good stacks of hay may be seen on every hand, so that farmers should have no anxiety for their stock during the coming winter. A slight frost or two have been experienced, but the weather is still more like late autumn than early winter. Milk is *still coming to hand at the factories. Dairy cows are looking extra well considering the long season. Most of the herds have been milking -since last July. Of late years cropping has been neglected in the Waikato. Yet last season one man put in a fairly big area in oats and secured a good return for the chaff. He also put in a paddock of barley, which yielded io bushels per acre.
