SOCIAL GATHERINGS.

A benefit dance for Mr. J. Simpson and his family, was held in the Otahuhu Public Hall on Wednesday. The music was by Mr. J. Stewart's orchestra, and extras were played by Mks 3lofSt and Miss M. Darby. Mr. G. V. Pearse thanked those who arranged tie function. The dancing competitions were won by Miss Mofnt and Mr. Hall, Mrs. 3lcAnulty and Mr. Campbell, and Mr. and Mrs. Shorock. : * ■* * During Easter a camp, under the auspices of the Methodist Youn-r Women's Bible Class Union, was held m Eawene, Hokianga. This is the first ramp of this kind lield in the district. There were present girls from all parts of Xorth Auckland. 58 in all, under the leadership of Miss Elsie Sewell, travelling secretary of the movement. A social afternoon was given in St. George's Church Hall. Papatoetoe, by the Ladies' Guild, when the Rev. T. H. C. Partridge welcomed a large attendance. A decorative scheme was carried our. with bowls of chrysanthemums and hydrangeas, and the carpeted body of the hall was arranged to give a drawing room effect. It was flanked by a number of stalls.
