"WORK OR MAINTENANCE DEMANDED. REQUEST TO GOVERNMENT. About 2.50 unemployed men were present at a meeting this morning at St. Matthew's Hall when it was decided to telegraph to the Prime Minister urging that Parliament be called together immediately to consider the unemployed situation with a view of supplying work at Jiving rates, or alternatively, to provide mantenance. It was also decided to urge that men employed at Public Works camps be supplied with goods at town rates from Government stores.
