HATCHERY AT WAIPOUA.
HOESON SOCIETY'S REQUEST. ACCLIMATISATION PLANS. (By Tele{.'rapb.—Own Correspondent.) DARGAVILLE, Thursday. At the meeting of the Hobson Acclimatisation Society the Right Hon. J. G. Coates presided. The annual report showed that a record, had been established as far as the number of shooting licenses was concerned, and that the number of fishing licenses had increased. The meeting" earned a recommendation that more activity be displayed on the fishing side of the society's activities. It was also decided to ask the Minister of Internal Affairs to permit the erection of a fish hatchery in the Waipoua Stream, and to .allow the stream to be stocked with trout. Several speakers described it as the best trout stream in North Auckland. The election of three members of the council resulted in the return of Messrs. A. Anderson, P. W. Haywood and N. Robertson. The retiring members are Messrs. A. J. Finch, G. H. Wansbone and J. Hunter. The other officers were elected unopposed as follow:—President, Right Hon. J. G. Coates; vice-president, Mr. G. Marchant; auditor, Mr. A. L. Billing. Mr. F. J. Dargavilfc was reelected chairman.
