ROTORUA NOTES.

A social evening was given in Dixieland Cabaret, Eotorua, on Monday by his Worship the Mayor and councillors in honour of his Excellency the Gover-nor-General, Lord Bledisloe, P. 0., K.8.E., MA., D.Sc., and Lady Bledisloe. After the guest.? had been received by the Mayor and Mayoress, Mr. and Mrs. T. Jackson, the vice-rogal party arrived. Later, the guests were presented to their Excellencies. The hall a charming scene, the walls being decorated with,varieties of New Zealand flora and bunting, while beautiful blooms of chrysanthemums and dahlias were used as further decoration. Small supper tables were arranged around the hall, and were decorated with roses of various shades. Her Excellency -wore a charming gown of foxglove pink ninon and silver, with ermine coat and white fox fur. Pearls and diamonds were worn. Mrs. Bathurst wore shrimp pink embossed chenille,,, with a coat jn the same shade of georgette, ssquinned, and white fox fur.' Miss Gillespie wore blue floral ninon. jVlajor Bathurst, Oaptain Sir John Hanham and Lieutenant Elworthy accompanied their Excellencies. Enjoyable selections were played by the Majestic orchestra, songs sung by Mrs. B. B. Wood, Mr. Meredith, Mr. Foster, with violin obligato by Mr. A. Painton; vocal duet by Mr. and Mrs. Luk; violin solos by Miss Cooper-Smith and Mr. N. Walker; recitations by Miss Jean Pearce. Miss Cooper and Mr. Norris were accompanists. The Mayoress, Mrs. T. Jackson, wore a handsome gown of black and gold embossed ring velvet; Mrs. B. B. Wood wore beige lace and o-eorgette, with an uneven hemline of tulle, and fur trimming; Mrs. V. Ward wore blue-ligured ninon; Lady Hunter, cinnamon georgette and lace; Mrs. G. H. Clinkard, black satin; Mrs. W. Hill, black beaded georgette; Mrs. W. A. McLean, black georgette and silver; Mrs. G. Urqnhart, lime georgette and floral velvet coat; Mrs. H. 0. Coleman, turquoise blue crepe de chine; Mrs. A. G. Hodgson, black georgette and silver; Mrs.° Galbraith, black ninon, Spanish shawl; Mrs. A. Smith, black satin; Miss A. Searell, coral pink embossed chenille; Miss P. Lewis (Auckland), cyclamen
