SHEEP DOG TRIALS.
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) DARGAVILLE, Wednesday. The Ho-bson County Sheep Dog Trial Club's sixth annual trials concluded to-day in line weather. The attendance for the meeting easily surpassed the previous record and the trials generally were the most successful .held by the club. The huntaway event resulted: E. Sloane's (Whangarei) Toss, 42a points, 1; E. G. Broad's (Kaikohe) Jack, 40 points, 2 ; H. L. Massey's (Paparoa) Rock, 37J points, 3. The possible points were 45. Eighteen dogs competed. The G. H. Wansbone Cup for'the long head event was won by E. Sloane's (Whangarei) Glenn. J. Windleborn (Arapohue), with his dog Glen, won the Okahu Cup for the highest points in the long head event registered fay a Hobson County resident competitor. The short head event resulted: J. C. Ambury's (Okahu) Rogue, 53 points, 1; J. M. Butler's (Opotiki) McClusky, 52£ points. 2; F. Clotworthy's (Whangarei) Rye, 51J points, 3; J. Windleborn's (Arapohue) Gem. 50 points, 4. Forty dogs competed. The winner takes the F. O. Peat Cup. The L. .T. Ambury Cup for the highest points gained by a dog owned by a Hobson County resident was won by J. C. Ambury.
