CALLOUS MURDER.
Husband Drowns Wife at Second Attempt. • FRENCH CRIME. PARIS; April 25. A most unusual type of deliberate murder is reported from Troyes. The body of a young woman was taken out of the Seine. At first it was presumed to be a case of suicide, but inquiries led to the arrest of Georges Crosclaude, a coachbuilder, who confessed that the woman was his wife. The man calmly related the details "of the murder. He and his wife had been separated for two years. They met accidentally, and the husband suggested a stroll by the riverside at eventide. The wife agreed. When the couple reached a propitious spot Crosclaude pushed the woman into the river. She clutched some reeds and shouted for help. Her husband dragged her out, lit a cigarette, and commanded her to follow him. The drenched figure tremblingly obeyed. They continued to walk alongside the river until they reached a bridge 30ft high. There Crosclaude, without saying a word, picked up his wife and again threw her into the river. When he was satisfied that §he was dead he walked tranquilly home.
