A VANISHED HOARD.

Mystery surrounds the whereabouts of nearly £500 which William Chopping,_ a farm" labourer, of Stebbing, near Braintree, Essex, is stated to have possessed. Chapping, who was aged 78, was round handed' in his home, an dit was stated at the inquest that £43 was found in his cottage. Mrs. Sarah Sine, of Chelmsford, ■a sister, said that she was not satisfied that all the money her brother kept in his cottage had been accounted for. When she visited him at Christmas she helped him to count his money, and he had more than £500, £100 in gold and the restm Treasury notes. The coroner said that a further search would have to be made. It was stated that Chopping had told neighbours that he had no money to buy coal, and the medical evidence showed that he had not had sufficient fowl. A verdict of suicide while temporarily insane was returned.
