DIGGER STORIES.

ANOTHER BATCH TO-NIGHT. ADVENTURES AT THE FRONT. COMPETITION NEXT WEEK. The Star's" Digger stories continue to absorb the interest of our readers, and the hatch published in the magazine section of our paper to-night will be found as entertaining as the first series. Another competition will be held next week, when 'a prize of £1 will again be awarded for the best story of the week with 5/ for other stories published. The story of the soldier whose air cushion "pack" was so neatly punctured by a comrade's bayonet, was regarded by some readers as impossible, ,but confirmation of its truth came to hand this week when one of his former comrades wrote: "It inay be of interest to you that L. V. Winks, winner of the competition a week ago, was in the same company as myself for two years. I have not seen him since 1017 and am delighted to learn that he is still alive and kicking. I remember his air cushion vividly and many a time let th© stopper loose myself." Stories of doings at the front, which are typical of Anzac humour, courage and tenacity are what is asked for, and we feel certain that the series already published are performing valuable service in putting on record many highly interesting stories and incidents which otherwise would have irretrievably vanished.
