CAUSE TRACED TO STEAM PIPE. WHANGAREI, this day." At two o'clock this morning the inmates of No. 2, Stanley Street, Were awakened by the crackling of fire. Mr. Arthur Jack Upton telephoned the fire brigade, which sulklued the outbreak with a first-aid outfit, the nearest water connection being 1500 ft away. Tile fire was located beside the hot water cistern, showing that a steap pipe, when the water attains to boiling heat, will ignite wood.
