POSED AS CONSTABLE.
INCIDENT AT DOMAIN. EX-SOLDIER LOSES CYCLE. Yesterday afternoon a returned soldier at present unemployed cycled to tlio Domain to take part in the military procession. Wliile so engaged someone stole his cycle, which he had left near the • Domain gate, opposite the hospital. This morning he endeavoured to trace ths missing machine at the police station, but so far he has not succeeded. According to what he told a "Star" reporter he has been misled by a man who evidently assumed the designation of a member of the police force. "After the march past, when,we were dismissed, I looked for my cycle, but could not find it," he said. "As I wa» goings out of the Domain gates I 6a x a tal*' thin man at the gate. him if he had seen anyone take my bike. He said he had not. The tall man, who was in civilian clothes, asked me foi particulars of the bike and took out a note book. He said he was a constable, and gave a well-known Irish name. £ supplied the particulars he asked for and was told to telephone the central police station in half an hour. I did so, but the men in the watchhouse knew nothing about it." _ The returned soldier would like to his cycle back and hopes that whoever took it will return it to him. He says he is a married man with six children., and owes money on the cycle, wlucni he. obtained on time payment. In addition to having to keep up the weekly insta • ments he will now have to pay at J&* s 3/6 per week in car fares if he obtains employment in the city.
