STOLE RUG FROM CAR.
YOUNG MAN SENTENCED. ANOTHER MONTH'S GAOL. Described by Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M., as "only a nuisance and a pest," Leo Brandon Collins, a labourer, aged 26, already serving a sentence of three months' imprisonment, Lad another month added to his sentence this morning for stealing a. rug worth. 15/ from a motor car in Wellesley Street. Detective Sergeant T. Kelly said that about 11.30 on the morning of March 4 complainant had left his car in Wellesley Street. When he went back the rug was missing, but it was later found in a second-hand dealer's, where it had been sold for 5/. Collins had admitted the theft. Mr. J. F. W. Dickson said accused's trouble was drink. He suggested that sentence be deferred until the magistrate made some inquiries about the man. "I was down at Rotoroa on Sunday, and I found out all about him there," said Mr. Hunt. "He has done no good on the island, &nd is only a nuisance and a pest."
