TUBERCULOSIS TREATMENT.
NORTH AUCKLAND A NATURAL SANATORIUM ? VIEWS EXPRESSED TO MINISTER. During his visit to North Auckland last week, representations were made to the Hon. A. J. Stall worthy, Minister of Health, by Dr. Smith, of Rawene, in connection with the treatment of tuberculosis in New Zealand. As medical superintendent at Rawene for over sixteen years, and as a doctor with a wide practice amongst both Europeans and Maoris, Dr. Smith has come to a decided opinion as to the pre-eminent suitability of the Northern climate for the treatment of phthisical cases. Tin expressed himself as .very sceptical of the value of sanatorium treatment, and advocates a colony system-, under which heliotherapy and cougenial work could go hand in hand under the, benign influence of the northern climate.
