MELANESIAN MISSION.
DISMISSAL SERVICE HELD. SAILING OF SOUTHERN CROSS. A party of mission workers left at noon to-day by the steamer Southern Cross, which is sailing with her halfyearly supply of foodstuffs, hardware, building materials and books for transportation to the New Hebrides group and adjacent islands, where the Melanesian Mission, representatives are stationed. The parly consists of several missionaries returning from furlough in New Zealand, and also two new missionaries. Tin' Rev. R. and Mrs. Godfrey, Miss Helen Fox, the Rev. George West, Mr. Arthur Hogger and Mr. and Mrs. Freshwater will return to their stations. Miss Alice Wilson, formerly of the Auckland Diocesan High School, will take her first appointment at Siota, the mission headquarters, where she will undergo six mouths' training. The Rev. T. W. Edwards will go out to take up a station for the first time at Eaga, in the New Hebrides. At tbe. dismissal service held this morning in St. Mary's Cathedral, Parnell. the Rev. Archdeacon Mac Murray offered prayers for the success of the Church's representatives in the distant lands they were adopting for their life's work. The missionaries then received communion, and a blessing was pronounced on their departure.
