Demand for . tomatoes lias fallen off plightly, but there are still, large quantities available. It is thought that the cold snap is responsible for the lessened sales. •■'. V; Good deseer.t apples are selling readily, and there is an improved market for cooking apples. ]S[ei'ther variety of gra'pe, outdoor or hothouse, is being asked for to any great extent. Those from Te.lvauwhata are particularly plentiful. Peaches are not selling well, though the demand is. improving. Passions have eased in value. A : good deal of inferior stuff is coming forward. Lemons are selling readily. Prices are;—• Peaches: Golden Queen, 4/ to 6/6;" Lippiatt's Late Red, 2/6 to 4/. Cape gooseberries: 5d to 6d. Tomatoes: Local, No. 1, smooth, 4/ to 6/;" No. 2, 2/6 to 3/6; Hutts, 4/6 to 5/3. Apples: Cox Orange, choice, 8/ to 10/ j small, 5/ to 6/; Gravenstein, 4/ to 6/; Delicious, choice, 6/ to 7/; Delicious, others, 3/ to 4/; cookers, 4/ to 5/6. Pears: Louis Bon, choice, 9/ to 10/6; small sizes, 6/ to 7/6; Clairgeau, 4/ to 6/; Packliam s Triumph, 4/ to 6/; Beurre Diel, 3/6 to 4/. Grapes: Hothouse, Hamburgs, 8d to 1/3 lb; Colman, 1/3 to 2/ lb; Golden Queen, 1/; White Muscats, 1/7 to 1/8. lb; outdoor, Te Kauwhata, 6/ to 7/6 case. Lemons: Local, 9/to 16/. Passions: 2/6' to 4/6. Oranges: Californian, repacks, 42/6 to 45/. Bananas: Repacked, ripe, bushel cases, 17/ to 23/; repacked, ripe, No. 2 cases, 10/ to 12/. Vegetables. All varieties of vegetables continue in heavy .supply at the markets. Cabbage, lettuce, pumpkins, beans and onions are difficult to dispose of.. ~ , Cucumbers are becoming a'little scarcer locally, but greater quantities are coming from the South. Ruling prices are:— Potatoes, 3/ to 4/6 bag; onions, 1/6 to 2/; kumaras, Id to VAA lb; cabbage, 1/ to 2/6 sack; cauliflower, 2/ to 8/; swedes, 1/ to 2/ bag; pumpkins, 2/ to 4/0 cwt; green pcae, 3/ to 7/ bag; beans, 1/ to 2/6 case; lettuce, 6d to 3/; cucumbers, 1/6 to 8/ dozen; vegetable marrows, 6d to 1/; water melons, 1/ to 2/6 each; rock melons, 4d to 1/ each; cabbage,, on benches, 1/ to 1/6 dozen; cauliflower, tin benches, 3d to 8d each; celery, 6d to 3/ bundle; rhu'barb, 1/ to 1/6 dozen; spinach, 1/-dozen; pumpkins, 2d to 9d each; radish, 6d dozen; spring onions, 3d to 9d bundle; carrots, parsnips, beet and turnips, 6d to 10d dozen; leeks, 3d to 4d bundle. Eggs are Steady. Egg prices are steady at late rates, Supplies are moderate, but they are selling readily. . Current prices for first quality' lien eggs are:—Special grade, 2/5 dozen; A grade, 2/4; B grade, 2/; duck eggs, special grade, 2/3 dozen; A grade, 2/2; B grade, 2/. Farmers' butter is selling from 1/ to 1/3. There is a good demand for medium quantities available. Poultry. At to-day's auctions the supply of poultry was heavy, and- the demand was good for most lines. The ipriccs paid were fair, except for White . Leghorn hens. Cockerels and heavy hens were in keen demand. Selling rates were as follow:—Cockerels: Heavy breeds, prime, 6/ to 7/10 each; not prime, 4/ to 5/; light breeds, prime, 2/6 to 4/; not prime, 2/ to 3/. Fat roosters: Heavy breeds, prime, 2/6 to 3/6; light breeds, 1/9, to 2/3 Fat hens: Heavy breeds, 3/ to 4/; light breeds, 2/ to 2/3. Pullets: Heavy breeds, best, 6/ to 7/; smaller, 4/ to 5/; light breeds, best, 6/ to 7/; smaller, 4/ to 5/3. Drakes: Young, prime, 3/6 to 4/4. Ducks: Young, 2/6 to 3/. Turkey hens: 7/. Gobblers: 17/ to 18/9.
