MR AND MRS. GEO. GILBERT.

AN ONEHUNGA CELEBRATION.

Mr. and Mrs. George Gilbert, of Trafalgar Street, Oiielilmga, Will next Saturday bo entertained, with their friends, by. their children and grandchildren to celebrate the golden jubilee of their marriage. Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert, were both born in the year 1855, at Cornwall, in England, and they were married at Port Nalloth, in South, Africa, on March 20, 180O» While in Africa Mr. Gilbert, who is a stonemason by trade* had the over* sight of all the bridges and masonry work of about ninety miles of railway belonging to the Copper Mining Company at O'Hieps. Owing to unfavourable climatic Conditions and few opportunities for their children, Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert left South Africa and came to New Zeal&hd by the Tongftriro, arriving at Port Chalmers on May 28, 1880. From there they came to Auckland, and shortly afterwards settled at Onehunga, where they have resided ever since. They havo four sons and four daughters, all married, with 24 grandchildren, and three I great-grandchildren. Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert are two of the oldest members of the Onehunga Methodist Church, the former having held office for many years as a society and poor steward. Mrs- Gilbert is the eldest daughter of the late Mr. Thomas Jordan, Of FalmOuth, England.
