AFTER DEATH.

Lest "the blind lead the blind" it should be said that the Bible teaches that those we call dead are really*'living. They are dead to us, but alive , to themselves and to the Lord. It is written (Luke xx. 38): "He is not a God of the dead, but of the living; for all live unto Him." Jesus Himself passed through the gateway of . death and showed himself to be still alive. Moses and. Elijah were seen by Peter, James, and John alive at the Transfiguration. Confusion arises with some people mistaking the two kinds of death spoken of in the Bible. There are some dead while they live. Eph. ii. 1, "Dead in trespasses and sins." This, is the death to avoid. Jesus said (John v. 24), "Verily, verily, I say unto you, he that heareth my word and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation, but is passed from death unto life." Nevertheless, all such will pass through the death that leads them into the world beyond. But that is no hardship. Rather is it a blessing. It is, written again (Rev. xiv. 13): . " Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth: yea, saitb the spirit, that they may rest from their labours; and their works do, follow them." . ROBERT STRONG.
