HIKUTAIA V. WAIKINO.
The annual match between the above two clubs for the Elliot Medallion took place at Hikutaia green on the evening of Wednesday last, four teams from each club taking part. Hikutaia Club was successful in recovering the medallion, the scores at close of play being Hikutaia 87, Waikino 75. Individual scores were as follow, Waikino names being mentioned first in each case:— Pascoe, Sharp, McAra, Pivac 19, v. Thompson, Rcvell, Gubb, A. Robinson 19; Coveuy, Dobson, Hewitt, Keatley 14, v. Brunton, Avery, I. Robinson, Elliot 26; Wallace, W. Phillips, Murphy, Southberg 17, v. K. Alley, Bard, M. Morrison, Valentine 20; Gilpin, R. Phillips, Borthwick, Franklin 25, v. Capper, Carr, W. Morrison, A. Alley 21. During the evening refreshments were dispensed by the ladies of the Croquet Club, and as the green is beautifully lighted for night play a very enjoyable match resulted. It is intended to have a return daylight match at Waikino green at an early date, and the Hikutaia Club has agreed that iq. Elliot Medallion can be competed for in that occasion also.
