AUSTRALIAN EXCISE DUTY. (Received 1.80 p.m.) SYDNEY, this day. Tha new excise duties caused a serious position in the town of Griffith, the centre of important wineries which now propose to close, affecting 200 growers and 7000 townspeople. Immediate appeals are being made to the federal Government to avert tie threat* ;"*ed cessation.
