BLANDFORD PARK RACES. \ ". GOLDBERG'S GOLD HELMET. CURTIS BREAKS TRACK RECORD. . J The feature of tlie cinder track racing at. Blandford Park last night was the performance registered by L. Curtis'and C. Goldberg. The races were keenly contested and there were some exciting finishes. • Early in the evening Goldberg attempted to lower the four-lap track record of 7os, created 'by Cyril D. Walker the week previously. Goldberg gave a good exhibition, but did not set a new record. He equalled Walker's time. It was left to Curtis to break the record. .Curtis simply hurtled round the track, and only once did he switch off in the whole four circuits. He cut in close to the grass on the turns and cleared wide out in the straights to recover. He bettered Walker's and Goldberg's times by 1 1-ss, Curtis' new record being 73 4-ss. Last night Goldberg, succeeded in winning the gold helmet from Curtis, who Shad held it for the past two weeks. Results:— IMPROVERS' HANDICAP.—Four Laps. First Heat.—C. Yeats (Rex Acme), iscr, 1; B. Smith was only leading Curtis by five yards at the finish of the first lap, with Stevensoi\ well back. Curtis was. never troubled after he took the load in the Second circuit, and won from Smith by 60 yards. Time,- 84 l-ss. Second Heat.—C. Goldberg (Royal Enfield) 1; K. Yeats (Rex Acme), 2. Also started: Cyril D. Walker (Douglas). Just after the flying start Yeats broadsided and swerved on to the grass on the inside of the track, losing much ground. As Walker was racing level with Goldberg on the bend entering the straight on the first lap, liis engine took on a load of coke and spluttered out. Goldberg had no opposition, and won by 200 yards from Yeats. Time, .^Final!—C. Goldberg (Royal Enfield), 1; L. Cuftis (Douglas), 2; K. Yeats (Rex Acme) ,3. Also started Smith (Rex Acme). This was an exciting race. Goldberg shot out from Curtis soon after the start, and when a lap had been covered he was leading him by five yards, with the other two "weT behind. Goldberg gained 20 yards in the next lap, and in the last Curtis came up near him but lost several yards on the bend around the back. Goldberg won by 15 yards, with Yeats a similar distance away third. Time, 76 l-ss.

IMPROVERS' MATCH RACE. The special match race between Curtis, Goldberg and Walker, did not take place. Instead an improvers' match race was run, the starters being McLaren (O.E.C.K H: Richards (Calthorpe), and B. Smith (Rex Acme). McLaren won from Richards by five yards. Smith fell in the second lap and injured his knee. Time, 88 4-ss.
